Sander Bellman -- Rice Lies and Another 10,000 to Die

In an appearance before the Senate Armed Services committee Thursday, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice refused to provide an estimate of U.S. casualties, saying, “Such estimates are not possible” — but the Pentagon assessment had been delivered to the White House on Tuesday, two days before her testimony!
More perjury by this corrupt administration.
As reported at Capitol Hill Blue:
"Pentagon planners this week warned President George W. Bush that his "troop surge" plan could double U.S. casualties in Iraq in the coming year and result in 10,000 or more American deaths by the end of 2008…The memo concluded that American military deaths could top 6,000 by the end of 2007 and exceed 10,000 or more in 2008 with more than 100,000 wounded and/or maimed for life…In a classified assessment memo, military experts predicted violence against U.S. troops will increase 'at a sustained pace' and concluded that increasing the use of soldiers for house to house searches in Baghdad will 'dramatically alter' the 'ratio of casualties to actions' in that civil-war torn city, says a military source familiar with the memo."
What really burns me about the mainstream media (MSM) and talk shows this past week is that they are treating Bush's war escalation plan (the McCain doctrine) as a serious alternative to the recommendations of:
· The Baker-Hamilton Iraq Study Group - the most respected bipartisan commission who spent months examining the situation before coming up with a conclusion 180 degrees opposite than that of our incompetent President
· The will of the American people who overwhelmingly voted on November 7th for redeployment and an end to the failed occupation
· The opinions of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
· An overwhelming majority of troops in Iraq as reported in a recent poll in Stars and Stripes
· The fact that NOT ONE decision by BushCo has worked in the past 4.5 years
· A litany of lies by BushCo as long as your arm
So why does the MSM take his proposal seriously now? As reported elsewhere, Bush is like the compulsive gambler who tell his best friend or relative that he lost every penny at the racetrack, but just needs another $20 to bet on a sure thing in the next race. Every one of these pundits and every Bush apologist are as guilty as he in the slaughter of innocents.
Every one of us is also responsible if we don’t make our voices heard NOW!
