Brent Bozell III (Atlanta Journal and Constitution, 10/5/06) misses the point about hypocrisy. He finds Mark Foley's actions nauseating, which is an easy thing to do. Foley is a Class A hypocrite as well. I wouldn't call House Speaker Dennis Hastert a hypocrite, just someone a bit slow on the uptake, given the Boston Catholic Church scandals and cover-up along the same lines.

He brings up past scandals that Democrats supposedly didn't decry with the same ferocity that is now being played out. I think the Democrats are really angry, instead, about the cover-up in the House Republican leadership. Bringing up the sexual misconduct of Democrats such as President Bill Clinton, U.S. Rep. Barney Frank and former U.S. Rep Gerry Studds is old news and a diversionary tactic.

The Foley news and speaker cover-up stories are fresh news, and Democrats would be stupid not to relish in them. I think Bozell knows this down deep in his dark Republican heart.

(Oh, he forgot to mention that after Clinton was impeached for a sexcapade, Newt Gingrich resigned because of his own sexual dalliances, and his sure successor as speaker, Rep. Bob Livingston, resigned after admitting several affairs. Hypocrites indeed!)
