After reading today’s (9/29/06) MDJ article regarding the Post 6 school board election, I am amazed. I thought we discourage bullying in our community. It’s a scary thought that any educated person would base their decision for school board membership on partisan politics. One of the main purposes of education is to teach individuals to make smart, well informed decisions. As I recall, being a Republican or Democrat is not a criterion in a school board member’s job description.

Personally, I have supported both Republican and Democratic candidates. In this case, it’s a no-brainer. Dr. Beth Dupree Farokhi, an 8th generation Georgian, is all about education. She is a former teacher, retired as an administrator from the GA State University’s School of Education. She has no conflicts of interest. She has the qualifications, commitment and time to take Cobb County School Board to the next level. Beth has no former political experience and her motive for running for the school board is absolutely sincere and all about education. I challenge anyone to compare Beth’s experience to her opponents. Once you do, I think you will see that partisan politics is being used as a smoking gun. Let’s stop the bullying and focus on what really matters: who is the right candidate for our school board.
