I’ve been a resident of the “Fight’n 6th” since 1979. In all those years, I’ve never met a more dedicated, honest, and open Congressional candidate than Steve Sinton.

Steve Sinton, Candidate, 6th Congressional District

His incumbent opponent Tom Price’s voting record is a disgrace. Not only did he vote NO on embryonic stem cell research, he voted to allow the Federal Court to take jurisdiction in the Terry Schiavo case, voted to make bankruptcy easier for large businesses and more difficult for the average citizen. He voted to cut taxes on the very wealthy in a time of war. He voted against requiring the US military to obey the UN ban on torture and, in every case, rubber-stamped the Administration position.

Tom Price is out of step with the citizens of Georgia and the those in the 6th District. Each time I’ve written Price asking him to support the more reasonable position, I received back a form letter restating the talking-points he received from the White House.

He has avoided face-to-face debates with Steve and, at one debate sponsored by the LWVGA, he failed to show up - sending his spokesperson to give a lame excuse about his needing to be at a veterans event. The next day, his picture showed up in the Marietta Daily Journal as having attended a friendlier ECCA venue having nothing to do with veterans. When Steve showed up later that evening at the ECCA event, Price beat it out of there with his tail between his legs.

When Price finally did show up to debate Steve (and his Republican primary opponent), Steve wiped the floor with him. At one point, Price actually said that in Congress, one man really can’t make a difference. He was roundly booed by the predominantly Republican crowd.

This September, the citizens of the “Fight’n 6th” are going to hand Price his walking papers.
