I was talking to a woman in a very good shoe store today and we somehow got into government spending, etc. When she said something about "what was really scary was that 'Communist' China was going to come take over this country." I chuckled and told her with this administration's debt, China was already holding the debt for a good part of the country.

Her response was that all administrations have been borrowing and that's why things are in such bad shape. I, of course, had to mention that "Didn't she remember that the budget was balanced and we had a surplus under Clinton?" She was totally shocked. She thought I had made it up. Even to asking where did I ever hear such a thing. And then she even said, "I don't want to hear about it!"  I told her to look it up in the history books and let it go.

It was depressing as I drove away that there are so many people that are afraid to admit their leaders might be wrong. They will march right off the cliff dragging the rest of us with them.
