It's hard to imagine that our government would cut social services to the neediest in our country before they would rescind tax breaks to those who are more capable of weathering the storms. Did no one in Washington even see what happened in New Orleans? 

They couldn't even buy bus tickets and now we are going to cut food stamps, Medicare, various other social services designed to help the poor and even financial aid for college students???  This on the heels of trying to let companies pay their workers less than the national average rate in devastated areas of the country.  All of this done to the weakest among us who can't fight back and the Tax cuts stay. 

I don't know, but I don't think Jesus would approve.  "Compassionate Conservative" must only apply to the rich. Come on folks, there must be a better way. We should all be tightening up our belts, especially the wealthiest who have some fat that the belts can be tightened around. The poor folks belts are already up against their ribs, after seeing the gapping wound that Katrina left its hard to imagine even having this debate.
