Tom Barksdale -- Bible Reading for Mrs. Chambliss

Dear Mrs. Chambliss,
The AJC recently ran an article quoting you as
saying regarding the infamous TV ad that your husband ran
juxtaposing Max Cleland with Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein
and impugning Cleland's patriotism: "It's just amazing to me
that they still will not let it go."
M'am, you need quickly to turn to the Holy Bible and nothing
less than the Ten Commandments to find the answer to your
perplexity about why decent, God-fearing Georgians still hold your
husband responsible for his deed. Go to Exodus 20:16 and
read, "You shall not bear false witness against your
neighbor."
If you are still bewildered, I humbly beseech you and your
husband to seek guidance from a pastor, priest, or rabbi. I am
more than a little surprised to learn your faulty knowledge of
Holy Scripture. Most Southerners learned at their mother's knee
that you do not tell lies about your neighbor, or about your
political opponents.
I will pray for you and your husband, that you will overcome
the gaps in your moral grounding, and restore your souls and your
lapsed standing with God by apologizing for that wretched ad.
Sincerely,
Tom Barksdale
