This textbook contains material on evolution. Evolution is a theory, not a fact, regarding the origin of living things. It is a theory because new information will be used to test and refine it if necessary.  This process is called "science".  Evolution is the result of centuries of intelligent and creative individuals studying tangible historic objects and concluding the most probable series of events to explain them.  It is successfully applied daily in modern technology.  > >

Other theories exist regarding the origin of living things based on creation stories written thousands of years ago.  Proponents of these theories suppress or distort all information that doesn't fit their preconceived viewpoint.  This field of study is called "myth" or "superstition".  It is successfully used daily to suppress independent thought, foster ignorance, amass vast sums of money and power from the gullible, justify violence, elect presidents and warn that cartoon characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants might be gay.
